Music & Migration Stories of our Shared History.

Music is culture, travelling far & wide, especially with those who leave their homelands for new horizons. Migration has been a familiar experience for humankind since its first existence. Our collective culture has evolved with recurring interaction, exchange & innovation. The history of Flamenco is an excellent example of this. A musical analogy for the strengths that can be found in multiculturalism. The much-loved music export of today is the result of human movement, and the subsequent musical interactions that took place along those travel routes, finally arriving in Flamenco's modern home of Spain. Conceived and led by Maryanne Piper, INLAND explores the history of Flamenco, performing the music of its ancestry, imbibing the ensemble's sound with the influences of its global village exponents.
